About Me
I was born and raise in a beautiful Minnesota river town, Stillwater. Feeling young and free I decided to move. In 1994 I moved to California. Inspired by Southern California’s bountiful markets, seafood and diverse cuisines, I began to experiment more in the kitchen. I started cooking, baking and sharing with friends and neighbors. It was the beginning of my never ending culinary curiosity. In 2006 my passion landed me a position at The Wild Thyme Company, San Diego’s voted Best Caterer. During this time, I won a scholarship with Chefs Celebration to study at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, CA. This scholarship allowed me to cultivate my culinary experience further. As Chef de Cuisine I was able to achieve professional and personal goals. Partnering with San Diego’s finest Chefs, I was able to work with Berry Good Food, and Meals on Wheels. Indebted for all the foodie adventures. Craving the one on one connection with clients, I began forging my own journey as a private chef in 2019 and Mana Kitchen was born. Mana Kitchen is inspired by family, traditions, local farmers, ethically sourced producers, sustainability, educators, children, nourishment, our oceans , the land, and lakes. Mana Kitchen is not just food. It is a way of life. Mana is life force in all things. Let’s share a meal, talk story, and build a healthier stronger community.
